We get asked all the time to post up how we do things around the shop. So here you go, our first installment.
Properly adding aux power to your project

We call this armor braid! This will be your best friend against wire fatigue cuts & abrasions.

Fuse blocks.....know the max amp load for the fuse block. Always use a covered style block to prevent short outs or fire.

Place armor braid over wire. Use heat shrink to cover any exposed ends and to keep armor braid in place

Finished product...Wiring looks professional, Wiring is protected and should give years of trouble free service.

Wiring....know your amp load. Always go up one awg size past what your intended load, so the wiring will not heat up or burn out.

Basic tools......I know its cool to have all the latest and greatest tools. Keep it simple and it will turn out just fine.

Crimp on your terminal to other end of wire. Use heat shrink to cover any exposed ends and to keep armor braid in place. Trim excess heat shrink.

The importance of wire protection is illustrated in this install. You can see all the sharp edges, dirt, chaffing points that wire is exposed to.

Last but not least, Mounting points for fuse block should be as close to power source as possible. Always run wires in most open pathways as possible away from moving parts, heat and sharp edges. TAKE YOUR TIME!  As the old saying goes....... If you don't have time to do it right then you sure don't have time to redo it.
